Doug Burr- "Should've Known"

I saw this gentleman play on Friday night for 35 Denton at Dans Silverleaf and fell hard for his music. I had known of him, being local to DFW, but never had seen his stuff live. His crooning mellow voice and really nice hair was the perfect compliment to a night that was a little boozy and full of good local music. 
I am a fan.

Ever since I heard this mans voice on KXT I have been, for a lack of a better word, obsessed. Graffiti6 is the collaboration of musical talents, Jamie Scott and Tommy Danvers, who came together in 2009 and decided to make some serious music. They draw their musical influences from hip-hop, R&B, Folk, and soul. Graffiti 6 will put you in a good mood any day of the week, especially their single "Free".

The Staves

This past weekend I went and saw the Civil Wars at HOB. The duo live were so brilliant and sinfully good that of course they had to choose an opening band with the same caliber.... The Staves. The only info I was able to gather about them was that they are sisters from the outskirts of London who create the most melodic sounds I have heard in a while... maybe the girl version of FleetFoxes (vocal wise). Anywho, please check out their EP called Mexico...and fall in love.

David Ramirez

I credit this post to my sister who has a good ear for new music and artists. David Ramirez is a true American man. He has been writing his own music for 10 years and considers himself a wandering man. His music has just that tone; a wandering folk Americana feel that's hard to get out of your head. This is his single called "stick around"

These guys are coming to Dallas in Feb. and I just bought tickets to see them... again. I'm super excited because they always put on a great show. Earlier this year they opened for Taylor Swift, but this time around Ben Rector is opening for them. Check out some of their videos; they will make your heart feel free and your legs want to climb a mountain in search for an adventure...

Elvis still has it. If you are an Elvis fan I am sure you have watched this movie but for those who haven't seen any of his movies make sure you Netflix this one. "Girl Happy" was made in 1965 and centered around Elvis's good looks and musical charm. Check out these clips from the movie and see if Elvis can't swoon you to a little Wolf Call.

Today at work, one of the sales associates heard me humming a tune as I was re-working a table display and he asked me what I was humming. I told him it was a Civil War song and he busted out with  a laugh sure to awaken Dallas. I told him it wasn't a song from the Civil War but that it's a band and he thought that was even funnier. I didn't understand why there was a second laugh but I guess he thought it was funny. 

My sister (once again) introduced me to The Civil Wars which is a duo band partly from Nashville and partly from Alabama. Joy Williams and John Paul White are the voices behind the name, which isn't funny. Their music is actually somewhat serious and deeply entrenched in story telling with love and the emotions that come with it being the subject.

There is passion and true grit in their sound... thus the name The Civil Wars. Enjoy.

Band of Horses remix

I am bummed that Band of Horses is going to be so close to me (Nokia Theatre in Grand Prarie) on thursday an I am not going to see them. Gosh darn work... This is a remix of the popular song "No one's gonna love you more than I do" by Cleo Green/ Paul Epworth. enjoy.
