When I think of Palm Springs...

None of these images relate to anything I know or have experienced except red lipstick lady, but it might be nice for a day or two to live in Palm Springs....dreaming of summer.

Ron van der Ende

Ron van der Ende work is sick. He is a once trained painter turned sculptor artist who uses found wood to create super realistic bas-reliefs centered around everyday life objects. He employees the original color and texture of the wood to help instill in his viewers mindset the environmental problem we have created within our world. I think his work is very relevant to our day-in-time in a world where we easily forget to embrace the old because were so worried about obtaining the new. Doug Burr- "Should've Known"

I saw this gentleman play on Friday night for 35 Denton at Dans Silverleaf and fell hard for his music. I had known of him, being local to DFW, but never had seen his stuff live. His crooning mellow voice and really nice hair was the perfect compliment to a night that was a little boozy and full of good local music. 
I am a fan.

Jason Middlebrook

Jason Middlebrook is a instillation and sculpture artist that uses found wood as a canvas to paint beautiful lines that work with the tree. I am really taken with his choice of color and how he honors the shape of the tree by not manipulating it to be something it's not. I got to looking at some of his other pieces and he was commissioned to re-tile the Q-line in Brooklyn entitled "Brooklyn Seeds". Check out his website and see it for yourself. Hopefully next time I make it out to Brooklyn I'll get to see this.

Pooches!

This morning I got to looking at Pioneer Woman's website and all her photography and I never noticed before but she had a section devoted to dogs. They made me so happy that I had to share them. The last photo is Lilly, my pooch. She is looking quite slim and cool in this photo so I thought she wouldn't mind if I introduced her to the world. Happy Saturday!
